Empower Federal Credit Union
When Power Federal Credit Union and Empire Federal Credit Union merged on April 1, 2007, they almost doubled the size of their membership and enhanced the benefits to their membership. An important benefit the credit union was able to provide is The Auto Loan Recapture program, a direct mail campaign provided by CUNA Mutual and SER Technology. Through this program, Empower was able to demonstrate the superior service and rates available to their membership. "It was a win-win situation for all," as Kevin Peterson, Director of Loan Sales shared, "In the first two months, we were inundated with refinance calls, the members saved a ton of money, and with our combined membership, we refinanced 122 loans, increasing our loan portfolio by $2,128,951.
1st Community Credit Union
Casting a wide marketing net has been getting 1st Community FCU a good auto lending haul in recent years. But nets, by definition, have holes. So this fall, the CU decided to go after some of the members who swam after more tempting bait, but got the "switch" instead. As deposits poured into the San Angelo, Texas, credit union (assets $116 million) in recent years, it aggressively marketed auto lending with multi-media advertising. This boosted volume 11% and 21% for the one-year periods ending in June 2002 and June 2003, respectively.
